Who We Are

Hi! We are the founders and current owners/workers of Sea & Soil, a sandwich shop with a sliding scale model.

We work to create unique, comforting, and delicious food from locally sourced ingredients and house-baked naturally leavened bread. We aim to make simple, thoughtful, and healthy food that is accessible to all people while keeping profits in the hands of those who do the labor and the communities in which the food is made.

Every ingredient in our sandwiches is made by us in the shop and pulls from culinary traditions around the world from our Miso Braised Pork to our Maduros and Haloumi sandwich. Our concept is simple: make it by hand, don’t be afraid of new combinations, and power in the hands of the workers.

What We’re About

Sliding Scale Model:

Food is a human right. We want as many people as possible to be able to afford our sandwiches and we want to do this without cutting corners around ingredients. While prioritizing just compensation for our worker-owners and the sustainability of our co-op. We leave the choice up to you for what you can afford at this time. We recognize that this may shift from day to day, and every option is a good option. No matter what you are supporting our worker-owned co-op!

Worker Owned:

The food industry, as with many industries, is rife with exploitation. We believe workers should see the fruits of their labor. Through worker-ownership, every worker at Sea & Soil has a choice to be an integral part of how the co-op runs not only on a day to day basis but through envisioning and decision making for the future. While currently operating as a partnership, as we grow every worker will have the opportunity to become a worker-owner after a one year trial period. Our labor will be tied up with the success of the co-op, support for each other and supporting ourselves. One worker one vote.
